WHEN YOUR LONG LOST DAUGHTER'S A PSYCHO LOLITA.........WE HATE WHEN THAT HAPPENS........

Girl Unknown by Karen Perry (2018)    Hadn't sample one of these for some time........Bad Seed hottie arrives from the depths of hell to further destroy a marriage already frayed at the seams......

             All the tropes in place........19 year old college freshman......so sweet, so vulnerable, so adorably waif-like.......

             Except.......she's EVIL!!!!!!!!!!

            By the way, did we remember to mention that.....she's EVIL!!!!!!!!

             The Prof who unknowingly fathered her is, of course, a feckless obtuse jackass who takes almost the entire length of the book to figure this out.

             The rest of the family's more or less on to her, which doesn't much pick up the book's stately pacing.......on and on it goes, never making its mind up as to whether it's a thriller or a soap opera wallow in family tragedy.....

               We guess by the end, when the story reveals its last unsurprising twist, we're supposed to feel some measure of sympathy for this miserable, obnoxious bunch........

               Nope.

               As far as we're concerned, they all got what they deserved and we breathed a sigh of relief that it was over.

               However.......if this kind of  low-simmering domestic cup 'o blood tickles you........if you've got an enormous pile of Unreliable Narrator 'Gone Girl' Ripoffs piled up on the night-table.......by all means, you might as well dive in.......

              But fair warning, not much juicy spills 'n thrills on display here.......just slow rolling waves of familial angst and tragic gloom.......

              Sorry. Not our idea of a beach read. 1 & 1/2 stars (* 1/2).......(unless you're waiting for a tsunami to sweep you away.....)
