After all, who's gonna help us all find the Truth That's Out There without Agents Mulder and Scully?
Who's gonna plunge us into a dark, dark world filled with shadowy government operatives and those spindly, almond-eyed aliens......(with neither earthly or other-worldly groups having our best interests at heart......)
Jeremy Finley to the rescue.........who piles on the dread, the mystery and finally, the outright horror in generous doses.....
Granted, the first two thirds of this book takes a while to build up steam....
The current melodrama and convoluted backstory of 70-ish senator's wife Lynn Roseworth takes some time to mesh into a coherent narrative.......blending the abduction of her beloved grandson with her youthful college job with a professor who's a dedicated hunter of UFO's and alien abductees.....
/But hang in there for the book's glorious, wild 'n crazy third act.......which plays like the third 'X-Files' movie you always dreamed of.....
We don't want to spill much here (you need to take this rollercoaster ride with little advance knowledge)..........other than to say it involves Lynn and her snarky, cranky lifelong friend Roxy taking on entire 'X-Files' season's worth of creepy middle-of-nowhere towns, conspiracies, aliens, UFOs and breathless chases.....expect to lose sleep reading to the finish line. .
It's all ready made for the movies.......and so far one of the most knockout entertaining reads we've come across this summer. BQ says don't let this one hover above you like a wayward UFO.......seize it quick......4 stars (****).......the truth is IN there......(if you believe)
